In a special interview for SIRCROW, Mr. Matteo Casarin, Area Sales Manager for Portugal, Scandinavia, Baltic States, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Balkan region in Tessitura Monti Spa, shares interesting thoughts on the company’s history and his point of view about the world of shirts.

Hello, Matteo. Please tell us more about the history of Tessitura Monti Spa. How has the company evolved since its founding?

Matteo: It is difficult to describe the evolution of a company that is more than a century old. Shortly, I would say that Tessitura Monti Spa started with handlooms in 1911 and has always tried to give the highest quality fabrics. Today the company is still producing fabrics with the same aim that was in the beginning, obviously with the help of latest technologies, the best cottons and linens and the knowhow of a long story.

What are the most interesting and distinctive moments in the creation of shirt fabrics?

Matteo: People who are interested in fashion and its story can understand it. Shirts were already worn in the 8th century and they were still a garment which could give style and a tone that could make the difference even then. Only a few things changed from that time and people still like them because that feeling of absolute elegance once you wore one. This is what is inspiring us. We like to try to create that feeling every time. Hope you can perceive it looking at our collections.

What makes your fabrics unique?

Matteo: I would say only 4 factors: high quality yarns, our expertising in finishing processes, our creative department, and the professionalism which we try to give to all of our customers.

What’s the piece of clothing that every discerning gentleman should have in his wardrobe?

Matteo: For sure, a white shirt made with a Sea Island cotton fabric.

What inspires the creation of the collections? Do you have different items in the collections for the different markets?

Matteo: We make only one collection with Monti’s style. But then, we have a big team and we can also develop specific things for the specific needs of our customers and their markets.
