Today we talk with Mr. Walter Sohm, Area Sales Manager for Switzerland, Eastern Europe and Japan at Getzner Textil AG.

Getzner is one of the largest companies producing various fabrics of exceptional quality for the production of shirts. Walter himself will tells us more about the company’s history and the world of shirts.

Hallo, Walter, please tell us more about the company. How has the company evolved since its founding to the present day?

Walter: GETZNER TEXTIL AG was founded in 1818. It is a family owned company, which started working in home textiles like bed linen and table clothing, and as a finishing plant. Later we started working in the fashion industry and nowadays we offer all kinds of fabrics through 4 business units. Such are Africa damask, Shirting, Technics and Mobility. And as we could celebrate 200 years recently, obviously we did something right over the years, don’t we?

Which are the most intriguing and distinguishing elements in creating shirt fabrics?

Walter: Creativity from our own design team, bringing the trends, colours, different kinds of yarns, opportunity of different constructions, all this together in creating a real fabric!

What makes your fabrics unique?

Walter: Our high quality fabrics with different kinds of finishings such as easy care, non-iron, lavato, with Aloe Vera, Skin care, Soft wash, breathability etc. makes our products unique!

What’s the piece of clothing that every discerning gentleman should have in his wardrobe?

Walter: A shirt, of course … with Getzner quality!
